Russian military forces continue their attempts to cross the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region. These efforts began in mid-January, with the enemy managing to secure some positions.
This information comes from analysts of the DeepState project. According to their data, Russian troops have established a small foothold on the right bank of the Oskil River near the village of Topoli.
The enemy has repeatedly attempted to cross this water barrier since mid-January, with active reconnaissance of the area commencing last month. Analysts report that the enemy has taken positions on the shallow hill south of the village of Topoli, having crossed the river.
"The [Russians] also tried to establish a foothold between Kam’yanka and Topoli, but unsuccessfully. They were unable to consolidate their position and expand their success, so this attempt remains merely a troubling signal of potential future attacks from the enemy," the report states.
It has recently come to light that Russians have occupied Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region. Fierce battles took place for this settlement, which is crucial as it is the last major Ukrainian stronghold in southern Donbas, located at the intersection of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Before the war, the town had up to 5,000 residents. Military analysts suggested that the capture of this village could provide Russian forces with a potential route for advancing into Dnipropetrovsk region.
Earlier, the village of Vremivka also came under Russian control. On the DeepState map, it is now marked in red. On January 16, Russia occupied the village of Neskuchne in Donetsk region, and on January 15, Russian troops captured the village of Yantarnе.
Currently, the enemy is actively advancing on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces north of Andriivka.
