A ceasefire leads to nowhere: Lavrov shared Russia's perspective on negotiations with Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on peace negotiations with Ukraine. He stated that Russia is allegedly open to discussions, but only if they address the root causes of the conflict. Additionally, Lavrov mentioned that a ceasefire in Ukraine is a "dead end" and that Moscow requires "definitive legal agreements" to ensure its security.
Перемирие — это тупик: Лавров рассказал, как Россия видит переговоры с Украиной.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on peace negotiations with Ukraine. He stated that Russia is supposedly ready for talks, but only if they address the root causes of the conflict. Lavrov also mentioned that a ceasefire in Ukraine is a "dead end," and that Moscow requires "final legal agreements" for its security.

This was stated by Lavrov on December 25 during a broadcast of the propaganda program "60 Minutes." He emphasized that Russia is not satisfied with a ceasefire with Ukraine.

"We cannot accept empty discussions. So far, all we hear are talks about the need to come up with some ceasefire... A ceasefire is a dead end; we need final legal agreements that will outline all conditions for ensuring the security of the Russian Federation and the legitimate security interests of our neighbors, in a context that will legally guarantee the impossibility of violations of these agreements," Lavrov said.

He also added that no one particularly hides the fact that a ceasefire is needed to "pump Kyiv with weapons." Furthermore, the Russian minister, referring to Vladimir Putin's words, stated that Russia never "shies away from negotiations" regarding the end of the war against Ukraine.

"We need to see serious, concrete proposals. When they come to us, we will decide how to respond based on national interests," the Russian politician emphasized.

Lavrov also claimed that France allegedly offered Russia several times through closed channels to establish a dialogue regarding Ukraine without Kyiv's participation. He underscored that this violates the West's principle of "Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine."

Peace Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

Recently, there has been much discussion about peace negotiations. Several scenarios have been revealed online regarding how they might unfold. The most likely scenario for ending the war, which could be under consideration by Donald Trump, includes balancing anti-Russian sanctions and deploying European soldiers to Ukraine. Ukraine would need to agree to a temporary refusal to join NATO, not demand the immediate return of occupied territories. In exchange, a reconstruction plan for Ukraine would be developed, leading to independence from Russian influence.

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba does not believe in a quick peace in Ukraine, as promised by newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump. The key reason is the significant discrepancies between Kyiv and Moscow regarding the terms for ending the war.

There is no option for ending the war that would involve the transfer of Ukrainian territories to Russia or a freeze of the conflict. Advisor to the President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, emphasized that such scenarios will not lead to the end of the war but will only allow Russia to accumulate resources for new attacks.

It is worth noting that on Christmas Day, Russia chose to carry out another massive attack on Ukrainian cities. The occupiers launched nearly 100 missiles of various types, including ballistic ones, and also used over a hundred kamikaze drones, continuing the terror against the civilian population.
