The Parliament won't pass the bill on the VLK for those with limited fitness by February 5: will they declare all of them wanted?

The Verkhovna Rada will not have enough time to review the bill regarding the extension of the deadline for passing the military medical commission for those with limited fitness. This deadline is set for Wednesday, February 5. However, individuals who are unable to complete their medical examination on time will not face penalties or be subjected to search warrants.
Рада не успеет принять законопроект о ВЛК для ограниченно годных до 5 февраля: объявят ли их всех в розыск?

The Verkhovna Rada will not be able to review the draft law on extending the deadline for the medical commission for those with limited fitness before the current deadline, which is Wednesday, February 5. However, those who do not manage to undergo the medical examination in time will not be fined or sought after.

On February 4, this was announced by the MP from the "Servant of the People" party, Oleksandr Fedienko. He noted that upon opening the draft law on amendments to paragraph 2 of Section II "Final and Transitional Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Provision of Rights for Military Personnel and Police Officers to Social Protection," it can be seen that it has not yet passed through all necessary instances.

However, Fedienko assures that those with limited fitness should not be fined for not passing the medical commission. Such a directive will be sent to the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS).

"I want to reassure citizens that at a joint meeting involving the Office of the President, the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health, and the Medical Forces Command, it was agreed that a corresponding directive regarding the adoption of this law will be sent to TCRSS to ensure that those who do not manage to pass the medical commission by February 5 will not be fined and will not be pursued," the MP wrote.

Medical Commission for Those with Limited Fitness

Previously in Ukraine, it was established that all liable military men aged 18 to 60, who have the status of "limited fitness," were required to undergo a military medical commission (MMC) again by February 4, 2025. This is due to changes in mobilization legislation that took place in 2024. The "limited fitness" status has been abolished, so the fitness of men for military service will be assessed according to new criteria.

The main changes involve the actual cancellation of individual fitness assessments. The military medical commission no longer assigns statuses of "fit," "limited fit," or "unfit." Instead, a new criterion for determining fitness has been introduced. Rather than the "limited fitness" status, the term "fit for service in support military units, TCRSS, training institutions, medical units, logistical, communication, security, and other auxiliary units" will be used. Citizens with this new status will only be drafted into the military if there is a need to replenish certain units.

Recently, the obligation to undergo the MMC has been postponed from February 5 to June 5, 2025. Efforts are currently underway to organize the process of passing the MMC so that all citizens can complete the medical examination by June 5, 2025.
