The Russian army launched drones of the "Shahed" model against Ukraine on the night of December 26. Air raid alerts were declared in several regions, including Kyiv. There are also reports of the deployment of long-range aviation.
According to the Telegram channel of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, drones from Chernihiv were moving towards Kyiv in a south-western direction. Drones were also observed in the northeastern part of Poltava and at the border of Cherkasy and Poltava regions.

Additionally, monitoring channels recorded two TU-95 aircraft taking off from the airfield in Engels and heading towards another airfield in Olenya. This course typically indicates the redeployment of long-range aircraft.
During the massive Christmas attack on December 25, Russia launched 78 missiles and 106 Shaheds against Ukraine. In total, air defense shot down 113 aerial targets, including 59 missiles and 54 attack drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the combined massive attack that Russia carried out on Christmas. He emphasized that each Russian massive strike requires time for preparation and is never a spontaneous decision. According to him, the attack on December 25 is a deliberate choice not only of targets but also of time and date.
