The Russian occupiers struck the "Novomoskovsky" training ground near the village of Cherkaskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Ukrainian defenders were present. This information emerged on Sunday, March 2. Reports indicate a high number of casualties among the military—likely around 50.
Initially, military personnel shared the news on Telegram channels, followed by posts from war correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko, volunteer Serhiy Sternenko, and MP Maryana Bezuhla. As of now, there has been no official confirmation.
Tsaplienko stated that the Russian Ministry of Defense released a video showing the impact of a cluster munitions warhead on a gathering of personnel. The strike targeted the deployment sites of the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the "Novomoskovsky" training ground near the village of Cherkaskoye.
The attack was commented on by military officer Stanislav "Osman" Bunyatov on his channel "Sniper Speaks." In response to a question about what happened, he stated, "50 people died." Various reports mention dozens of fatalities and a significant number of injuries.
Sternenko noted that the strike occurred approximately 100-130 km from the frontline. The adjustment was made under the guidance of a Russian reconnaissance drone.
"It was not shot down because a fully operational system is still not in place. The Eastern PMC currently has the worst performance in implementing drone air defense. Earlier, the commander of this PMC even prohibited training flights with FPV. The consequences have already been seen—a strike on Patriot. There has been no accountability. None," the volunteer wrote.
Bezuhla also commented on the attack, stating that it occurred during a formation.
"Another death of servicemen due to a strike during formation. Formations are held daily. No one has been punished, and Syrskiy remains in his position. What were you expecting? As long as the Soviets are in power in the Armed Forces, people will die because of their stupidity and inability to adapt to new realities," the MP declared.
The Deep State public reported earlier that the Russian army had crossed the border in the Sumy region and entered the village of Novenke. On the platform's map, the area of Novenke was marked as a "gray zone," with Russian advancements noted near Sverdlivko in the Kursk region.
Subsequently, Andriy Kovalenko refuted the information about the border breach in Sumy. Kovalenko confirmed that the Russians are indeed storming Novenke, but there has been no breach of the state border. The head of the State Border Service also confirmed that the enemy is facing significant resistance from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recently, Russian occupiers launched several drone strikes on Kharkiv on the evening of February 28. The enemy targeted various districts of the city, including central areas. There were also strikes on the territory of a medical facility.
The number of injured has risen to seven. According to local authorities, one of the wounded is a child. About sixty bedridden patients were evacuated from the medical facility hit by the drone.
