In the temporarily occupied Berdiansk in the Zaporizhzhia region, it has been loud and restless since the morning of Thursday, October 31. Drones are flying over the city, explosions can be heard, air defense systems are operational, and the collaborators complain that the drones are attacking local "authorities" - specifically targeting their administrative buildings. Schools and kindergartens in Berdiansk are closed, and the enemy is concealing the real consequences of the drone attacks, having positioned air defense systems in the very center of the city.
The collaborator Volodymyr Rohov reported that drones struck Berdiansk. He laments that six drones have already been counted attacking the city relentlessly.
According to Rohov, the drones have a specific target - they are attacking the centers of the so-called "authority" - Russian local government and social services. Allegedly, the maritime port was also targeted by the drones, but this information needs clarification.
Rohov also assures that schools and kindergartens are not operational in Berdiansk. Residents are urged to stay indoors and refrain from planning trips.
As reported by the "Berdiansk Today" community, the occupiers are trying to conceal the consequences of the strike on the Berdiansk port and are discussing the damage to civilian buildings. Currently, the city is quiet, although collaborator Balitsky continues to speak about the operation of air defense systems. He published photos showing the aftermath of the occupiers' air defense operations: damaged buildings are located on Zakhidnyi Avenue and near the port.
In defending their military facilities, they have installed air defense systems in the city center (on the port territory), and their operation within residential areas poses a genuine threat to the local population. Additionally, in their attempts to shoot down drones, Russian soldiers actively fired various types of weapons in residential neighborhoods. Many residents of Berdiansk reported this on the city’s social media.
According to Balitsky, there are currently three known casualties, who have been hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries. He does not specify whether they are civilians or military personnel. Balitsky urged drivers heading to Berdiansk to refrain from traveling. Occupying military forces have blocked many streets in Berdiansk near the port. It is no longer possible to walk or drive from Shmidt Park towards the sea.
The Russian occupiers in Berdiansk have significantly complicated their logistics - intelligence officers from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, along with local partisans, carried out a sabotage operation, destroying the local railway bridge on October 27. This refers to the bridge located between the Vodokanal and the car wash on Eastern Avenue. The Russians used it to supply fuel and weapons to the Russian army, and now their logistics are disrupted - the enemy has been left without weapons and ammunition, at least temporarily.
On October 2, in Berdiansk, the collaborating judge Vitaliy Lomeyko was found dead. The vehicle he was in exploded for unknown reasons. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that he was involved in the repression of Ukrainians during the occupation and war crimes.
