U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his administration is engaged in negotiations with Ukraine, Russia, and other parties. The American leader believes that the process is progressing well. Trump's administration emphasized that both sides will need to make concessions.

According to CNN, Trump made this statement in comments to reporters late on February 2.

"We are dealing with Ukraine and Russia. We have meetings and discussions scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia. I think the discussions are going well," said the American leader.

Just hours prior, Trump's special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, warned that both sides would need to make concessions if they hope to agree on a resolution to the war. He stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "has already indicated he will soften his position on territories," and Russian leader Vladimir Putin "will also need to soften his positions."

"In time, we will hold discussions with everyone, probably soon. And this is good for both sides," Kellogg said.

In response to Kellogg's remarks, President Zelensky's communication advisor, Dmytro Lytvyn, stated that if his plan for resolving the war is merely a ceasefire and elections, then it is a failed plan.

Trump and the War in Ukraine

Earlier in an interview with Fox News, Zelensky stated that U.S. President Donald Trump could compel Russian leader Vladimir Putin to come to peace if he chooses to do so. The head of state hopes for a fair peace agreement and that Trump will be on Ukraine's side.

As is known, Trump instructed his special representative Keith Kellogg to end the war in Ukraine within 100 days. Trump also threatened Russia with additional sanctions if Putin does not reach a peace agreement.
