Budanov revealed the number of Russian occupiers currently fighting in Ukraine.

The Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Vadym Skibitsky, reported that the number of Russian ground troops engaged in the conflict against Ukraine is 620,000. Additionally, there are support units, and around 35,000 servicemen are tasked with maintaining the occupying authority.

The Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Vadym Skibitsky, reported that the number of Russian ground forces engaged in combat against Ukraine totals 620,000 personnel. There are also rear units involved. Additionally, 35,000 servicemen support the occupying authorities.

Skibitsky made this statement in an interview with RBC-Ukraine. According to him, the Russian army comprises approximately 200,000 assault troops within Ukrainian territory.

"When we talk about the ground component, it is about 620,000, with over 200,000 being those assault units actively participating in combat and located at the front line," the intelligence officer stated.

Furthermore, Skibitsky explained that there are also 35,000 National Guard servicemen who support the occupying authorities, ensuring the security of the most critical facilities in temporarily occupied territories. According to their plans, they can carry out tasks in the enemy's second echelon during defense organization if necessary.

Additionally, the intelligence officer noted that it is essential to include the troops responsible for logistical support, units of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and aviation that is not directly stationed in combat areas but is used for launching strikes.

"The aggressor currently utilizes more than 20 airfields and aviation bases on Russian territory to conduct both bombing and missile strikes against our territory," explained the Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

Russian Losses in the War in Ukraine

As of March 3, 2025, the Russian army has lost approximately 878,070 soldiers in Ukraine. Just in the past day, on March 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 1,350 occupiers.

The Defense Forces also neutralized 60 artillery systems, 16 armored vehicles, and 11 tanks. Additionally, two air defense systems and 61 UAVs were destroyed in the last day.
