A fire broke out in a high-rise building in Kyiv. The blaze was caused by debris from enemy "Shaheds," which continue to attack the capital of Ukraine. Firefighters and rescuers are on-site, conducting an evacuation of residents.
This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on his Telegram account on the morning of November 7. According to him, the fire occurred in the Pechersk district of the capital. Debris fell on a building at the 31st-floor level. Partial structural damage and heavy smoke have been recorded.
"The upper floors of the high-rise are ablaze in the Pechersk district. All emergency services are on the scene. Evacuations are underway from the high-rise. Currently, there have been no medical requests. Teams are on standby at the site," he wrote.
Klitschko emphasized that the drone attack on the capital is ongoing and urged Kyiv residents to stay in shelters until the air raid alert is lifted.
The Russian military leadership is changing its tactics for attacks by "Shaheds" across Ukraine. The enemy aims to conduct drone airstrikes almost around the clock. In this way, the Russians pursue several objectives: primarily, they save on their missiles, conduct reconnaissance, and apply psychological pressure on Ukrainians.
Throughout October, the Russians launched a record number of "Shaheds" and drones of unspecified types, which are of low quality. In the month of 2023, the enemy executed launches averaging 65 "Shaheds" daily. The majority of them, specifically 1,185 drones, were destroyed and neutralized by air defense forces. Additionally, 738 Russian UAVs were recorded as lost in location. Another 29 Russian drones entered the airspace of Belarus, Moldova, and Romania, troubling the neighbors.
The Russian occupiers plan to expand drone production based on enterprises they have seized in eastern Ukraine. Assembly will take place underground. This is intended to secure the production from attacks and ensure quick delivery of weapons to launch positions.
Informants reported that Russia has doubled the warhead of "Shaheds" and improved their guidance systems. Consequently, the explosives in "Shaheds" have nearly doubled compared to previous modifications.
