On December 7, Monobank is experiencing significant technical issues. Users report difficulties with viewing incoming funds, transferring between cards, topping up accounts, and paying for utilities and mobile services. Additionally, it is impossible to top up jars.
Monobank has confirmed that they are aware of the issue and are actively working to resolve it. When attempting to log into the app, clients receive the following message:
"Unfortunately, there are currently difficulties with the application. We will restore the functionality of the services shortly."
Currently, co-founder Oleg Gorokhovsky has not commented on the situation. However, disruptions in the Monobank app are rare. Similar incidents have occurred in the past. For instance, on August 1, 2024, the app also faced problems, preventing some clients from logging into the system. At that time, the financial institution promptly resolved the technical issues.
It is not yet known when all services will be restored this time. Users are encouraged to await updates and check the app's functionality.
Recently, Monobank co-founder Oleg Gorokhovsky decided to take aim at Ukraine's largest state-owned bank. In his Telegram channel, Gorokhovsky expressed outrage over the rules of PrivatBank that a client must sign to open a "National Cashback" account, which can receive the "winter e-support" - one thousand hryvnias from Volodymyr Zelensky.
To his surprise, Gorokhovsky learned that the bank where the "National Cashback" account is opened is required to transmit transaction data for this and other current accounts to the state. If the client does not provide consent for this, they will not receive the state cashback and the 1000 UAH winter support.
It is worth noting that Monobank clients with a card from the "Mastercard" payment system received a notification in the app stating that it needs to be switched to VISA. For the reissue of the black card, a cashback of 100 hryvnias will be credited, while no cashback will be provided for all others.
