Russian military forces are preventing the rescue of people trapped under the rubble of a nursing home in Suja, Kursk region, which they targeted themselves the day before. They are continuously attacking the area, including using FPV drones.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Armed Forces command in Suja, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, during a televised marathon. He mentioned that among those trapped are individuals with serious injuries.
“There are people who have not yet been rescued from the nursing home because the constant strikes from FPV drones make it impossible to bring in equipment to rescue them. There is information about a severely injured woman who, as of 14:00, was still alive, but her fate is unknown. They cannot retrieve her from under the rubble,” Dmytrashkivskyi noted.
According to him, the Russians launched the first guided aerial missile at the building in Suja. The second strike occurred an hour later while the debris was being cleared. It fell nearby, but people had already been evacuated from the nursing home.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Russian military is “cynically finishing off people.” They are using drones equipped with fiber optic systems that cannot be jammed by electronic warfare. Evacuations continued throughout the night, while enemy UAVs even targeted evacuation vehicles. Nevertheless, those willing were successfully evacuated.
On the evening of February 1, the Russian army struck a school-nursing home in Suja, Kursk region, with a guided aerial bomb (GAB). At the time of the attack, 95 people were inside the building—mostly elderly individuals and bedridden patients who were unable to evacuate.
Russian propaganda immediately accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces of this crime, claiming that Ukrainian soldiers allegedly “herded” civilians into the nursing home. However, it has long been known that evacuated individuals reside there, as reported by various outlets, including Informator.
