According to three sources, the meeting in Washington involved: elected Vice President JD Vance and the new National Security Advisor Mike Waltz from the U.S. side, while Andriy Yermak and Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Serhiy Boyev represented Ukraine.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of elected U.S. President Donald Trump indicating significant changes in policy towards Ukraine, aiming to put an end to Russia's war against Ukraine.

However, the meeting was not intended to discuss a potential peace plan or resolution to the war. Instead, Ukrainian officials sought to convey their assessment of the situation to Waltz and Vance and build relationships with them. One source mentioned that the Ukrainian side believes it achieved these goals and was satisfied with the meeting.

The publication added that the meeting, which lasted over an hour, primarily focused on assessing the battlefield situation from the Ukrainian perspective.

It also clarified that the Ukrainian delegation did not meet with Trump's elected special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, during their visit on Wednesday. The source noted that Kellogg had previously been to Ukraine, Yermak knows him, so a meeting to establish initial interpersonal relations was unnecessary.
