U.S. President Joseph Biden unexpectedly showcased a strength that had not been anticipated just two months before he leaves office. The White House stopped fearing nuclear threats from the Russian regime and began consistently enhancing Ukraine's ability to repel Russian attacks. However, the harsh reality is that if this had been done earlier, the war could have ended long ago, potentially avoiding many casualties and destruction.
This is reported by the American publication The Hill. The article notes that American ATACMS missiles finally struck Russia after nearly six months of persuasion from Ukraine. At the same time, the White House was not deterred by the fact that the so-called "president" of Russia, Putin, approved an updated nuclear doctrine on the day of the first strike on Russia.
"The document, which updates Russia's official nuclear doctrine from its previous 2020 version, includes several key changes, such as its statement that Moscow may use nuclear weapons to prevail over 'aggression against the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus ... using conventional weapons that pose a critical threat to their sovereignty and/or territorial integrity.' Attacks in the Kursk region certainly meet Moscow's new criteria for the use of nuclear weapons," the publication states.
However, all of Russia's previous "red lines" turned out to be empty threats, and the U.S. demonstratively ignored nuclear threats from Russia. While Russia had previously issued threats without taking action, it is likely that nothing will happen this time either. Biden, the publication adds, has displayed a toughness that was not expected from him.
"It is tragic that it took the White House so long to decide to 'not waver'... If Washington had shown the strength it is demonstrating today in the face of Putin's empty nuclear threats a couple of years ago, the war in Ukraine could have ended long ago. And Ukraine would have avoided so many mass deaths and destruction that it continues to suffer," the publication concluded.
On the night of November 19, Russia's Bryansk region was attacked. Initially, it was reported that as a result of a strike, the warehouses of the 67th arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense were on fire, containing artillery munitions, including those from North Korea for their systems, KABs, anti-aircraft missiles, and munitions for MLRS.
Later, the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the nighttime attack on the Bryansk region of Russia. Ukrainian fighters stated that the arsenal of the 1046 logistics support center was hit in the area of the city of Karachev, located 130 km from Ukraine's territory. As of 02:30 AM, 12 subsequent explosions were recorded at the warehouse. Detonations were also occurring in the target area. The General Staff did not disclose information on the exact means used to strike the enemy.
However, according to sources from several Ukrainian media outlets, on the night of November 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck Russian territory with ATACMS missiles for the first time. This likely refers to the strike in the Bryansk region.
