No water is uncomfortable, no heat is cold: how Odessa recovers from a blackout.

Life during power outages significantly impacts established value systems. This is discussed by blogger Maxim Voytenko, who is currently in Odessa, facing the city's severe energy crisis.
Без воды жизнь затруднена, а без тепла холодно: как Одесса справляется с последствиями блэкаута.

So, here we are. The blackout in Odessa is gradually taking its toll. Some people are getting two hours of electricity, while others are getting four. Familiar shouts can be heard — "Why is there light across the street, but we have none?" Darkness, cold, and the lack of mobile connectivity are turning even those who hang a picture of Bandera on their wall into hereditary proletarians seeking social justice. Because happiness should be free for everyone, and no one should feel wronged.

In other words, everyone should suffer equally.

Optics matter. Charging stations take a whole day to charge, and then they have to be transported from home to the office. It's tough without water, and it's cold without heat. One acquaintance noted how good he felt after going to "Silpo" for some hot water and also managed to grab a coffee there. Happiness is right there. A kettle of boiling water. And a hot Americano with milk for 25 hryvnias. No need for "Jack Daniel's" or the fifth PlayStation. A shift in life values amid the "Iskanders" and "Mopeds" flying overhead.
