One of the longest searches for a missing person has ended successfully. A woman who disappeared over half a century ago has been found alive and well, confirmed the police in the United Kingdom.
Sheila Fox was just 16 years old when she went missing in 1972 in Coventry, a city in central England. At that time, she was living with her parents, and police believed she may have been in a relationship with a man and possibly moved to another region.
A breakthrough in the case came from a photograph of Fox, which investigators discovered during a new review of evidence. Although the photo was of poor quality, within just a few hours of its release last Sunday, "members of the public" called the police and provided information about the missing woman.
Thanks to this information, officers were able to quickly locate Fox, who, according to them, "is safe and living in another part of the country."
Detective Jenna Shaw from the West Midlands police’s cold case unit stated, "We are very pleased to have found Sheila after more than five decades. We are a small team, and I would like to highlight the work of Constable Sean Reeve, who was able to solve this case with the help of witnesses."
"Every missing person has their own story, and their families and friends deserve to know what has happened to them, and hopefully, to be reunited with them," she added.
