General Staff: Since February 24, 2022, Russia has lost 803,100 troops in Ukraine.

The Russian Federation's army continues to suffer losses on the frontlines in Ukraine, both in personnel and military equipment. Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has lost over 803,000 soldiers. The occupiers have experienced substantial losses in military hardware, with Ukrainian forces destroying 17 Russian tanks and 16 armored vehicles in just one day.

The Russian Federation's army continues to suffer losses in terms of personnel and military equipment on the front lines in Ukraine. Throughout the course of the war, the enemy has already lost over 803,000 servicemen. The occupiers have faced significant losses in military hardware—within a single day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 17 Russian tanks and 16 armored vehicles.

More details about Russia's military losses have been reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The military noted that since the beginning of the war on February 24, 2022, and up to January 9, Russia's total personnel losses reached a new figure of 803,100 occupiers.

The enemy has also incurred substantial losses in military equipment. Ukrainians have destroyed a considerable number of tanks, artillery systems, and armored vehicles. The losses in equipment are as follows:

  • tanks – 9,731 (+17) units,
  • armored fighting vehicles – 20,221 (+16) units,
  • artillery systems – 21,765 (+36) units,
  • multiple launch rocket systems – 1,260 units,
  • air defense systems – 1,038 units,
  • aircraft – 369 units,
  • helicopters – 331 units,
  • unmanned aerial vehicles of various types – 21,813 (+86) units,
  • cruise missiles – 3,014 units,
  • ships/boats – 28 units,
  • submarines – 1 unit,
  • automotive vehicles and tankers – 33,387 (+80) units,
  • special vehicles – 3,686 (+5).

Military Losses of Russia

In December 2024, the Russian army suffered record losses in killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine. Large-scale infantry assaults on multiple fronts resulted in the occupiers losing 48,670 personnel killed and wounded. Overall, 2024 has become a record year for the Russian army in terms of losses.

Previously, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that throughout 2024, Russia paid the highest price for the war it initiated against Ukraine. The enemy's military losses over the past year surpassed over 421,000 wounded and killed.
