Canadian authorities are investigating an incident involving a plane at Halifax airport that led to temporary delays for all flights last Saturday evening.

Airport representative Tiffany Chase reported that around 9:30 PM on Saturday, an incident occurred during the landing of an Air Canada Express flight from St. John's.

Air Canada representative Peter Fitzpatrick stated that the Bombardier Q400 "reportedly experienced a malfunction with its landing gear," and the aircraft was unable to reach the terminal, with the crew and 73 passengers being transported by bus.

Passengers recounted that during the landing, the aircraft veered off the runway, leaning to the left, and part of the plane caught fire as the pilots attempted to bring it to a stop.

Fitzpatrick noted that no one on board was injured, but a representative from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia, who arrived at the scene with medical personnel, reported minor injuries.

According to Chase, flights were suspended following the incident while awaiting clearance to resume operations, but since then, one of the airport's runways has returned to regular service.

Air Canada stated that the cause of the incident is unknown and is awaiting the results of the investigation.
