A woman entered the Epicenter store and picked up a sweater and pants from the shelves. She put the items on under her clothing, but was stopped by the hypermarket's security as she attempted to leave the premises. This was reported in a decision issued by the Darnytsia District Court of Kyiv, published on March 28, 2024.

A woman entered the Epicenter and took a sweater and pants from the shelves. She put the items on under her clothing, but was stopped by the hypermarket's security while attempting to leave the premises. This is stated in the decision of the Darniy District Court of Kyiv, published on March 28, 2024.

In the store “Epicenter K,” the woman took a sweater and pants worth 5,415 hryvnias and headed to the fitting room. She wore the items under her clothes and proceeded to exit the building, but was halted by security. During the court hearing, the accused fully admitted her guilt in committing the criminal offense specified in part 2 of Article 15 and part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, expressing sincere remorse.

What punishment did the court impose?

The court found the woman guilty of committing the criminal offense outlined in part 2 of Article 15 and part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced her to 5 years of imprisonment. Based on Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, she was released from serving the imposed sentence under probation, provided that she does not commit a new criminal offense within 2 years and fulfills the obligations imposed by the court. According to part 1 of Article 76 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the following obligations were placed upon her: to periodically appear for registration at the authorized probation authority and to notify the authorized probation authority of any change of residence.
