The Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, responded on January 10 to the controversial video from the Kharkiv TCC, where a military officer forcefully pushed a female lawyer away from the entrance of the military medical commission. The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights emphasized that violating citizens' rights during mobilization activities is unacceptable. He called for a legal assessment of the military's actions at the TCC and for those responsible to be held accountable.

The relevant Dmytro Lubinets’ reaction was posted on his official Telegram page. The Ombudsman instructed his representative for Kharkiv region, Oksana Chervyakova, to investigate the situation. He also sent letters to the Kharkiv OTCC and the State Bureau of Investigations, requesting the initiation of a criminal proceeding regarding this incident.

"I saw a video on social media that recorded the obstruction of a lawyer's entry into the premises of the military medical commission at one of the TCC and SP in Kharkiv. Physical force was applied to her by a man in military uniform. I consider this disgraceful act unacceptable!" - Lubinets stated in his post.

The Ombudsman stressed that the practice of obstructing legal activities in Ukraine is shameful and must be eradicated. Every citizen has the right to defense.

What preceded this

On January 9-10, a video circulated widely on social media in the Kharkiv region, showing a representative of the Kharkiv TCC forcefully and rudely pushing a female lawyer away from the doors of the military medical commission. The military officer shoved the woman hard. The Kharkiv OTCC responded to this footage and acknowledged the fact of the conflict. They specifically noted that an investigation was initiated regarding this incident, but added that the woman acted aggressively.

Meanwhile, the police stated that they received a complaint from the female lawyer regarding the conflict with representatives of the Kharkiv TCC. Law enforcement reported that the 28-year-old lawyer arrived for a meeting with her client, who was undergoing the military medical commission. She was not allowed into the premises, which led to a conflict between her and the TCC representative.
