Ukrzaliznytsia has made changes to the train schedule on the Sianok-Mukachevo route. This was prompted by a rockfall onto the tracks from the mountain. As a result, one of the electric trains was blocked on the section in Transcarpathia.
The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported this. The company has notified passengers about the changes in train movements on the Sianok-Mukachevo route in Transcarpathia.
"Due to the rockfall from the mountain, the electric train is blocked on the stretch. Preliminary information indicates that two wheel pairs have derailed," the statement said.
Ukrzaliznytsia claims that the train's speed was below the allowed limit, thus there were no injuries. All passengers are being transported to their destinations by road.
"To minimize delays, train No. 59 Kyiv-Chop will be rerouted around this section. A recovery team of railway workers is already on-site to restore movement as quickly as possible," Ukrzaliznytsia stated.
Starting December 15, Ukrzaliznytsia, in collaboration with Slovak railways, will launch a new route to Bratislava.
