A cold atmospheric front will bring changes to the weather in Ukraine tomorrow, January 3. The air temperature will drop by several degrees, and rain transitioning to wet snow will occur in the north, west, and central regions, reports meteorologist Natalia Didenko.
According to Didenko, temperatures in Ukraine will drop to 0...+2 degrees.
In the central regions of the country, the temperature will range from +1...+5, while in the south, it will still be pleasantly warm at +6...+12.
In Kharkiv region, it will also become colder, ranging from +1...+5 degrees. In Luhansk and Donetsk regions, warmth will linger at +5 to +8, but it will eventually cool down there as well.
Wind is expected to be gusty and predominantly from the northwest.
The advancing cold atmospheric front across Europe will cause rain and wet snow in the west, north, central regions, and in Kharkiv region. No precipitation is expected in the other areas, the meteorologist states.
She forecasts that the drop in temperature to -2...-7 degrees at night will last until Monday, January 6, and next week, warmth will return to Ukraine.
"Today, let's enjoy the warmth, admire the sun where it shines, do laundry, cleaning, and all tasks that require electricity in advance. It’s clear that with the onset of colder weather, there will be a high likelihood of power outages," Didenko noted.
For the capital, the meteorologist predicts a temperature drop to 0...+2 degrees. There is a possibility of rain transitioning to wet snow, and the northwestern wind will cause some disturbances with gusts.
Natalka Didenko warns drivers about the dangers on the roads due to ice and notes that the drop in temperature may affect the well-being of meteorologically sensitive individuals.
"Such a sharp change in weather can negatively impact health, leading to headaches, drowsiness, exacerbation of cardiovascular ailments, and a gloomy mood," the specialist writes.
The Ukrhydrometcenter also warns of the likelihood of rain and wet snow in the north, west, and central parts of the country. In the northern regions and the Carpathians, daytime temperatures will drop to -1. In the south and east, temperatures will remain between +5 and +9, and in Crimea, it may reach +10. Wind speeds will reach 7-12 m/s.
Recall that on January 2, the Central Geophysical Observatory reported that over 50 temperature records were recorded in the capital of Ukraine during 2024. Last year was the warmest in Kyiv's recorded history.
Additionally, on January 2, media reported an anomalous phenomenon in northern Africa: for the first time in 50 years, Morocco experienced winter. Snow fell in several provinces, reaching half a meter in some areas.
