Not Kyiv or Lviv: Discover where the most expensive coffee in Ukraine is found (infographic).

In Ukraine, the price of coffee in cafes has increased. This is evidenced by statistics published on January 6 by analysts from "Opendatabot".

On average, in 2024, a cup of espresso cost Ukrainians 31 hryvnias. This represents an 11% increase compared to 2023. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the price of espresso has risen by 1.7 times. In 2021, a cup of espresso averaged 19 hryvnias, while in 2017 it was 15.

The most expensive espresso is found in the Odessa region (40 hryvnias), followed by the Lviv region (39 hryvnias), with the Volyn and Dnipropetrovsk regions tying for third place (37 hryvnias). Kyiv made it into the top 5 with a price of 36 hryvnias. The cheapest coffee was in the Khmelnytskyi and Sumy regions.

Over the course of a year, the price of espresso in the Odessa region has increased by 20%. The Khmelnytskyi and Sumy regions have been leading in the lowest coffee prices for the second consecutive year. The highest price hike over the year was recorded in the Vinnytsia region — an increase of 29%. Only in the Kharkiv region did the price of a caffeine dose remain unchanged.

Researchers explained that the changes in coffee prices are tracked using the so-called espresso index, as it is a fundamental component of any coffee beverage. Therefore, the cost of espresso impacts the overall prices of drinks in cafes.
