Ukraine is launching a Unified State Register of Pets, which will store information about domestic animals. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
The agency noted that the Unified State Register of Pets is a state registry on the Diia.Engine platform that will contain data about cats, dogs, and ferrets. The registry will include information on:
In turn, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the State Consumer Service will collect and analyze current data on the population of pets, their health status, and vaccination.
The registry will allow owners to recover lost documents and information about their registered animals and will make it easier to find them if a pet goes missing. Additionally, once a veterinary passport is issued in Diia, pet owners will be able to travel with their animals across the country more conveniently.
It is expected that this initiative will help cultivate a culture of responsible pet ownership in Ukraine, where individuals properly care for their companions. Furthermore, it will enable more effective prevention of the spread of dangerous diseases in the future.
The implementation of the registry will occur in two phases. In the first phase, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy will engage veterinary clinics and doctors to work with the platform. Following this, there will be a campaign to register the animals themselves.
