Member of Parliament Petro Poroshenko, who has proposed to strip all former "Regionals" of their mandates in the Verkhovna Rada, is the first to fall under this criterion and is effectively suggesting that the Rada terminate its own deputy powers, - writes the publication "Law and Business".
Journalists explained this by noting that Petro Poroshenko is one of the founders of the "Party of Regions", whose former representatives he is calling to strip of their parliamentary powers, - the publication states.
“Poroshenko was part of the governments of Viktor Yanukovych and Mykola Azarov as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Economy. In these positions, among other things, he was responsible for promoting the Kharkiv agreements and economic cooperation and fulfilling agreements with the Russian Federation. Additionally, P. Poroshenko pursued his own interests — he was penetrating the Russian market for the Lypetsk Confectionery Factory. Notably, he did not cease paying taxes to the Russian budget even after the onset of the Russo-Ukrainian war in 2014,” - the publication notes.
Journalists reminded of the past connections of the leader of "European Solidarity" with Russia and ORDLO, as well as his status as a suspect in treason.
“Currently, Petro Poroshenko is a suspect in a case of state treason. He is involved in this case alongside the godfather of Russian President Vladimir Putin — Viktor Medvedchuk. Furthermore, as the media reports, P. Poroshenko still has a joint gas business with former 'Regional' Nestor Shufrych — in the company 'Naftogazvydobuvannya',” - the publication points out.
Moreover, according to journalists, the status of his conscription-age sons also compromises the MP. “His son — Oleksii Poroshenko — is currently hiding in London, evading mobilization. Recently, he was declared wanted for failing to appear twice at the Pechersk District TCC and SP in Kyiv,” - the publication reports.
As mentioned, Petro Poroshenko has made a statement demanding the stripping of mandates from former Regionals in the Rada. In particular, the MP emphasized that he “does not intend to assist in the implementation of a scenario where the fifth column of the Russian Federation prepares an electoral landing for the dissemination of IPSO, the deployment of hybrid warfare, and the capture of Ukraine from within.”
It is well known that Petro Poroshenko is one of the founders of the former pro-Russian Party of Regions, which advocated for Ukraine's dependency on Russia.
