A man entered a Silpo store and placed various items worth a total of 8,668 hryvnias into his backpack. He attempted to leave the store, but was confronted by security, who detained him. This is mentioned in the verdict of the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv, published on November 18, 2024.
On January 28, 2024, the man in the Silpo store took from the shelves two bottles of whiskey, one tube of gel lubricant, two bottles of vodka, one spray deodorant, dishwashing liquid, salmon caviar, eighteen packs of cat food, two packs of cheese, and two cans of sprats, which he concealed in the backpack he had with him. He attempted to flee the scene of the crime and passed through the checkout area with the stolen goods totaling 8,668 hryvnias, heading towards the exit of the premises, but was stopped by security personnel.
During the court hearing, the man fully acknowledged his guilt. He confirmed that on January 28, 2024, he went to the Silpo store, where he collected products for which he did not pay at the checkout and attempted to escape. However, he was apprehended by security staff. He expressed remorse for his actions.
The court found the man guilty under Art. 15 Part 2, 185 Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment. Based on Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he was released from serving his sentence on probation for a period of 2 years. According to Art. 76 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he was assigned the following obligations: to periodically appear before the authorized probation authority, and to inform this authority of any changes in his place of residence, employment, or education.
