Russian forces continue to advance through Donetsk region. The enemy has achieved new successes near six populated areas, particularly in Kurakhove and its outskirts.
This was reported on January 2 by analysts from the DeepState project. According to the updated map, the Russians have made significant progress near Kurakhove.
The advance occurred along the main highway leading to the Zaporizhia region, as well as in the southern outskirts of the city.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the advancement of the occupiers is recorded in Dachenske, Lysivka, near Pishchane and Novovasyliivka.
On December 24, analysts from the DeepState project reported that Russian occupiers had seized three more villages in Donetsk. These include Makaryivka, Sukhi Yaly, and Zelena.
At that time, the enemy also advanced near several populated areas in Donetsk region, namely - near Staryi Terniv, Vovkove, Novovasyliivka, Novoyelyzavetivka, Novoolevka, Ukrainian village, Zorya, in Storozhove and Kurakhove. The invaders also made progress in Zaporizhia region, achieving new successes near Novodaryivka.
Additionally, it is worth noting that ISW estimated that throughout 2024, Russian troops captured 4,168 square kilometers. This primarily includes fields and small populated areas in Ukraine and Kursk region. Meanwhile, the Russian army lost 427,000 soldiers.
