The crowdfunding platform Buy Me a Coffee published a humorous photo featuring a North Korean soldier amidst the war against Ukraine. The ill-fated meme elicited reactions from both "regular" users and the global initiative supporting Ukraine, United24, as reported by the publication "Glavkom".

On Sunday, January 5, the American platform Buy Me a Coffee, which aids content creators in gathering donations from their followers, shared a meme depicting a North Korean military personnel smiling at a phone screen.

The company captioned the photo with the phrase, "That feeling when you read messages from those who support you."

United24 noted that North Korea has sent thousands of troops to invade Ukraine. The publication of such a photo by a company known for deleting Ukrainian accounts is considered "callousness" and "sheer madness."

Following this, Buy Me a Coffee issued an apology and removed the tweet.

The company clarified that the photo joke was created by a third-party service used for meme generation. The BMC team expressed regret and assured that they would work to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The mentioned shot, where the North Korean soldier smiles while looking at his phone, was taken during an observation of the dancing girls.

As a reminder, in November it was reported that North Korean troops in Russia gained unlimited access to the Internet for the first time and are using it to view pornographic materials.
