In Ukraine, 17-year-old males are required to register for military service within the first half of the year. Failing to comply with this obligation may result in significant fines, which could reach up to 17,000 hryvnias, warns MP Fedir Venislavskyi.

The MP and member of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Fedir Venislavskyi, explained that if an administrative offense is confirmed and there are no reasons to exclude liability, young individuals may face administrative penalties. He mentioned this in a comment to "Espreso".

According to the deputy, 17-year-old boys must register within the first half of the year. To facilitate this, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law allowing the procedure to be conducted remotely through electronic communications without the need to visit territorial recruitment centers (TCCs).

Registration Rules for 17-Year-Old Males

This year in Ukraine, all conscripts and military personnel are required to update their information. This can be done at TCCs, administrative service centers, or via the "Reserve+" app. Previously, fines for violations of military registration rules during special periods ranged from 17,000 to 25,000 hryvnias. However, recently, the Verkhovna Rada supported a draft law in its first reading that proposes reducing the fine for such violations to 8,500 hryvnias.

Earlier, Informator analyzed in detail why mobilization in Ukraine is struggling, what the prolonged war demands, and what experts suggest as solutions to this issue. Currently, the priority is not to lower the mobilization age (which would compel young men to leave for abroad immediately after finishing school - ed.), but rather to equip and arm the military. No amount of human resources can rectify such a significant gap, regardless of what some allies might wish.
