"Shaheds", which the Russians used to strike Sumy, were loaded with shrapnel. Two people lost their lives due to the attack. An additional 12 individuals sustained injuries.
Emergency rescue operations are ongoing in the city. The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, reported on the consequences of the enemy attack.
"This weapon is used to kill people, not to destroy objects. This is the first time in Sumy," - said Artyukh, as quoted by "Suspilne".
It is worth noting that shrapnel is a type of explosive artillery shell filled with bullets. According to the Regional Military Administration, the enemy attacked the Sumy community with "Shahed" drones on the morning of November 22, resulting in 3 explosions. As a result of the strikes, in addition to the dead and injured, multi-story residential buildings, private homes, and vehicles were damaged.
In September, the occupiers shelled Sumy twice in one day: reports indicated that people were injured, and parts of the city were left without electricity. The occupiers used bombs throughout the city. We also reported how Russian occupiers dropped a guided aerial bomb on the Sumy Geriatric Boarding House on September 19. This attack resulted in one fatality, and 12 individuals were injured.
On the night of September 18, the Russians struck the energy infrastructure of Sumy with Shaheds. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the aftermath of the attack was addressed.
In the early morning of September 17, the occupiers fired four ballistic missiles at the city. In total, two large electrical substations were on fire, leaving residents without power, and even trolleybuses were not running. Water was supplied with low pressure up to the 5th floor of buildings. Higher floors were without water supply.
