The Head of the Ministry of National Unity, Alexey Chernyshov, announced that approximately 32 million Ukrainians currently reside in Ukraine, while nearly 30 million are living abroad. He made this statement during his visit to Poland, as reported by Ukrinform.
According to Chernyshov, his ministry plans to implement a strategy focused on national unity, identity, and multiple citizenship. This initiative aims to facilitate the return of Ukrainian citizens to their homeland.
The official emphasized that various estimates suggest there are currently 32 million citizens in Ukraine, with an additional 25 to 30 million living outside the country. Chernyshov specified that this count includes Ukrainians who left the country since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
"We must create and offer conditions that encourage Ukrainians to return home. Those who remain abroad should maintain their connection with Ukraine and contribute to the country's welfare from outside its borders," the minister stated.
It was previously reported that individuals who left Ukraine are being offered jobs in defense enterprises and temporary accommodations. Minister of National Unity Alexey Chernyshov indicated that authorities will establish job search centers in other countries for vacancies in Ukraine.
Additionally, it was noted that Alexey Chernyshov has become the Minister of National Unity. However, it remains unclear how this department will operate and where the budget for its activities will come from.
