Late in the evening on January 4, a fire broke out at a psychiatric boarding school in the Kharkiv region. The incident occurred in the city of Pivdenne, where the boarding school building is located. As a result of the fire, six individuals were injured. Among them, one person suffered severe burns, while five others experienced carbon monoxide poisoning.
The fire at the psychiatric boarding school in Kharkiv region was reported by DSNS. It was noted that the second floor of the building was engulfed in flames. Both mattresses and personal belongings of the residents were burning. In total, an area of 2 square meters was affected by the fire.
Firefighters managed to quickly bring the blaze under control. The fire was extinguished by around 10 PM.
"During the fire, 6 individuals were injured, including one person who suffered 90% burns, while the other 5 experienced carbon monoxide poisoning. All the injured were hospitalized," the DSNS report stated.
It is known that in November 2024, a mandatory evacuation was announced in 10 settlements of the Borivska community in the Kharkiv region, including the village of Borova. All adult residents are being evacuated due to intense Russian shelling.
