The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that a Ukrainian hero who lost his ability to walk due to an injury has regained his mobility after their meeting at a rehabilitation center. The president shared this story during an interview for the telethon "Unified News" on January 2.
The interviewers asked Volodymyr Zelensky to recount a story that could inspire Ukrainians to continue their struggle.
The president responded that the Superhumans Center for prosthetics and rehabilitation had sent him a photo of a soldier who was unable to walk after his injury before the interview.
"I took a photo with him. He wasn't walking. He is working on it: he was in a hospital in the USA, and here Superhumans helped him. I received a message just before the interview, where he said: 'The president visited — and I started to walk. I hope he comes more often.' I believe, of course, that this result was not dependent on me, but I am sure it was due to the doctors, yet it is a pleasant moment," Zelensky recounted.
He added that for him, this story represents people's faith in themselves.
"I want to wish everyone: believe in Ukraine and believe in yourselves, in your comrades, in your loved ones. It seems to me that all these moments come from that spark between people, from that energy which only exists in unity. And I think that this distinguishes us from the invasion that has come to us," the president stated.
As a reminder, during the interview for the telethon on January 2, Volodymyr Zelensky also explained how he uses the Kursk operation in negotiations. According to him, it is a "very strong trump card" during discussions.
Additionally, the President of Ukraine revealed that Russia planned to occupy three major cities several months ago, but the Defense Forces managed to thwart these operations.
After Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20, 2025, Zelensky hopes to meet with the 47th president of the USA: they will discuss ending the war and security guarantees for Ukraine.
