Russia launched a wave of "Shahed" drones at Ukraine, prompting Kyiv's air defense to engage the enemy UAVs.

Russian occupation forces launched dozens of strike drones of the "Shahed" type over Ukrainian territory from January 2 to January 3. This was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, after midnight, enemy drones were spotted over Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.

Additionally, there were reports of "Shaheds" moving towards Kyiv region. At 4:25 AM, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced that the capital was repelling an attack by enemy drones.

"Air defense forces are engaged against enemy UAVs in the capital. Stay in shelters!" — Klitschko wrote.

After 5 AM, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine updated information regarding the movement of strike drones, stating that..:

• UAVs in Sumy region are moving south;
• UAVs in Chernihiv region are moving west;
• UAVs in Kyiv region are moving southwest;
• UAVs in Zhytomyr region are moving west.

At the time of this publication, there was no information regarding the consequences of the enemy attack or any casualties.

Recall that a Russian "Shahed" nearly hit the Office of the President during the morning attack on Kyiv on January 1, 2025.
