The Russian army has once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type strike drones. On the night of November 30, the enemy launched ten drones into Ukrainian territory. Defense forces managed to repel the aerial assault across five regions.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported on how effectively the air defense operated and the number of drones it destroyed. The military noted that they succeeded in downing eight out of the ten drones launched by the enemy from Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
During this operation, air defense was active in five regions: Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson. One drone was lost in location, while another flew into occupied territory.
Ukraine plans to initiate negotiations with the U.S. regarding the supply of weapons capable of intercepting intercontinental missiles. According to sources within the Defense Forces, the government will reach out to partners, particularly the American side, with a request for the necessary strike capabilities to enhance air defense. This likely involves upgrading to the Patriot missile system or acquiring a new Aegis system.
The long-awaited NASAMS air defense system has arrived in Ukraine. Canada ordered it from the U.S. back in January 2023, allocating nearly $406 million for the purchase.
In the same month, Ukraine received another Patriot missile system from Germany. This marks the third system provided by Germany. It will significantly bolster the country's air defense, protecting the population and infrastructure from enemy aircraft, drones, and missiles. Germany is also exploring the possibility of donating another battery of Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, which would be the fourth battery.
