Once again, false rumors have circulated online claiming that the legendary dog Patron has died. However, in reality, he is alive and well, continuing his usual work in mine clearance operations. The State Emergency Service (SES) has denied all such rumors.
The SES addressed the reports of Patron's supposed death, emphasizing that it is a hoax. Currently, Patron and his handler, the head of the pyrotechnic unit of the SES in the Chernihiv region, Mykhailo Iliev, are on a mission carrying out combat tasks.
"Everything is fine with Patron! He is alive, healthy, continues to perform his important duties, and wishes everyone a Happy New Year," the SES stated.
Mykhailo Iliev recorded a video message, showing the dog on camera. According to his words, they are working on mine clearance in de-occupied areas – searching for mines left in the ground so that civilians can return to buildings. Patron appears as focused and spirited as ever.
Previously, rumors spread online about the famous dog from the pyrotechnic unit having passed away. Fortunately, this turned out to be untrue.
Patron is a Jack Russell Terrier detection dog trained to find explosive devices. He gained fame after the onset of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine in 2022. He has been recognized as the official symbol of the International Coordination Center for Humanitarian Mine Action under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Patron received a title from UNICEF and was even awarded by the Irish.
He has captured the hearts of Ukrainians for the Jack Russell breed. However, those looking to acquire a puppy of this breed should consider that they are hunters and quite active dogs.
