The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have detained five criminals in Zhytomyr who are linked to a terrorist attack in the city. They detonated explosives near the district police department building. It turned out that they committed the crime on the orders of Russian intelligence services.
This was reported by the National Police, the SBU, and the Office of the Prosecutor General via Telegram. Currently, all five have been informed of their suspicion of committing a terrorist act.

According to law enforcement data, on November 20, a group of individuals detonated an explosive device near the district police department building in Zhytomyr. As a result, a police officer who was on duty at the time sustained injuries.
It was discovered that four of the perpetrators were residents of Zhytomyr aged 15, 16, 18, and 20, along with a 46-year-old man from Kharkiv. The latter had previous convictions for robbery, theft, and rape.

The preparations for the terrorist act were carried out by the Zhytomyr residents themselves. Two of them picked up a package. The other two purchased chemical components, nails, and other necessary items for making explosives from several construction supermarkets. They created a "test sample," conducted trials, and filmed it for their Russian handlers, who promised to pay them for the crime.
“The accomplices acted according to the instructions of their Russian handlers. The day before the crime, the 46-year-old man from Kharkiv arrived in Zhytomyr and bought several mobile phones and SIM cards. He left all of this at a designated location,” – law enforcement officials reported.

The investigation established that the criminals rented an apartment in the regional center and manufactured an improvised explosive device filled with nails there. The explosives were placed near the district police department building in Zhytomyr. To document the terrorist act, they set up a video camera nearby.

During searches of the suspects, detonation devices and other components of the explosive device, as well as SIM cards and mobile phones, were seized. The suspects face imprisonment for up to 12 years.

In mid-November, an explosion of an unknown object occurred near an administrative building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. Miraculously, no one was injured, although this was precisely the target pursued by a minor recruited by the enemy from Odesa. He arrived in the capital after receiving an assignment from his handler to carry out a terrorist act near a government institution.
In October, the SBU and the National Police also detained two Russian agents who were preparing a terrorist attack in Kyiv. These were mercenaries from the Russian military intelligence, known as the GRU. The hired residents of Zaporizhzhia planned to detonate an explosive device in one of the crowded places in the capital, which would result in the maximum number of casualties.
It is worth noting that Serhiy Batryn, a deputy of the Keretsky rural council in Transcarpathia from the "Servant of the People" party, was sentenced to life imprisonment. According to SBU and prosecutor's materials, he was convicted for terrorism and possession of explosives without permission. On December 15 of last year, he detonated grenades during a rural council meeting in Transcarpathia.
