The strike by a "Shahed" drone on January 1 against a residential building in the central Pechersk district and damage to the National Bank building outraged MP Maryana Bezuhla. She used this incident to intensify her criticism of the Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and reminded that, according to her information, many soldiers from air defense units were forced to become infantry. She stated that there still isn't a layered air defense system around Kyiv.
Bezuhla mentioned that during the morning attack on January 1, the air defense failed to intercept an enemy kamikaze drone that reached the government quarter. She claimed that the "Shaheds" managed to bypass the air defense lines.
"The 'Shaheds' bypassed the air defense and hit almost the Office of the President of Ukraine," - she wrote on social media.
According to Bezuhla, this resulted from systemic issues with military management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She recalled her assertion that personnel from mobile fire groups were redirected to infantry, reducing the number of groups. She added that a layered air defense system in Kyiv has still not been established, and even less so in other cities.
"It comes to absurd situations across Ukraine, where the same 'Patriots' are positioned in the opposite direction. Still. They are not being moved. Still," - she wrote.
Bezuhla also criticized Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, stating that he would have to explain this incident to the president. She emphasized that such a situation could repeat itself, and a Shahed could "hit directly in the office."
On New Year's Eve, Russian troops launched 111 strike drones against Ukraine. Air defense destroyed 63 of them. 46 drones turned out to be decoys, and two UAVs flew towards Russia and Belarus.
