On the night of Monday, January 6, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 128 Shahed drones and two missiles. The air defense forces destroyed all the missiles and 79 attack drones, while the remaining were lost locally.

Additionally, 128 attack UAVs of the Shahed type and various types of imitation drones were launched from Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

It was here that the upper floors were destroyed, with the explosion completely demolishing the tower above the 6th floor. The building of the National Bank, located nearby, also sustained damage, while windows were shattered in many neighboring structures, including Trepov's estate from the mid-19th century on Institutskaya Street.
Additionally, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy system in the morning of December 25, on Christmas Day. Russia, in particular, struck DTEK's thermal power plants.
