Cost of the Kursk operation: Sumy region has topped the list for the highest number of air raid alerts.

In the past month, the Sumy region has become the leader in terms of the number and duration of air alerts. Overall, in December 2024, the total duration of air alerts in the region amounted to 15 days and 5 hours, making it the leader in this unfortunate statistic for the month.

According to the "Air Alert" service, there were 115 air alerts declared in Sumy during December, with an average duration of 2 hours and 37 minutes. The media reported at least 23 instances of explosions in the region.

Essentially, this is the price for the Kursk operation. The Russians are furious and not only actively terrorize the local population but also attempt to locate and weaken the Armed Forces of Ukraine units that are passing through Sumy towards Kursk. However, the civilian population bears the brunt of the attacks, as the enemy is accustomed to retaliating against the vulnerable for their defeats.

The State Emergency Service of Sumy is engaged in eliminating the consequences of the strikes both in the regional center and in the localities of the region. Rescuers are clearing debris, providing assistance to the injured, repairing damages, and helping to restore affected buildings.

It should be noted that "Informator" previously wrote an extensive report on the evacuation in Sumy. The real hell in the region began after the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in Kursk. The enemy is attacking with everything in its arsenal: artillery, KAB bombs, missiles, and Shahed drones. In a significant part of the Sumy region, not only directly along the border, living is impossible. Therefore, evacuation measures have been declared in the localities of the region. Sometimes, evacuation is carried out forcibly, especially concerning families with children. However, there are considerable challenges regarding the transportation and accommodation of the evacuated individuals.
