The FBI uncovered 150 homemade bombs at a Virginia resident's home, marking one of the largest seizures in the bureau's history.

In Virginia, the largest cache of homemade explosive devices in the history of the FBI has been discovered, totaling 150 units. It was found at the home of Brad Spafford, who was subject to a search warrant due to allegations of firearm possession. Most of the explosives were located in a garage, along with materials and tools for bomb-making, as stated in the prosecutors' court filing. They noted that "several pipe bombs were also stored in a backpack in the bedroom" of the home, which the man shared with his wife and two young children. Some of the bombs were labeled "deadly."

Spafford reportedly also "acknowledged that he kept a jar of hexamethylene triperoxide diamine in the freezer," an explosive substance so unstable that it can detonate from friction or temperature changes. The jar was stored among food items, and it bore a label reading "Danger. Do not touch."

American media clarify that the investigation against Spafford has been ongoing since 2023, initiated by a neighbor's tip-off. The neighbor reported that he used photographs of U.S. President Joe Biden for target practice at a local shooting range. It is known that as a result of mishandling explosives, Spafford lost three fingers, but this did not deter him.

His lawyers state that authorities have no evidence that their client planned any violent actions.
