On the night of January 9, Ukraine was attacked by 70 drones, of which 46 were shot down. This was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian occupiers began launching UAVs at 19:30 on January 8, including "Shaheds" and various types of drones that simulate other aircraft. The aerial targets were approaching from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.

The air defense forces shot down 46 "Shaheds" and other types of drones. Defenders managed to operate in 9 regions: Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv. Additionally, 24 simulation drones were lost locally without negative consequences on the ground.

"Due to the debris from the downed attack UAVs, private houses in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions were damaged," the Air Forces added.

What is known about the consequences

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, reported that at 22:07 in the village of Novoe Pekelnoe, a vehicle caught fire due to falling debris from a downed drone. A private house and two outbuildings were also damaged.

"Two women aged 42 and 67 were injured — but did not require hospitalization," noted the head of the regional administration.

In the Sumy Regional Administration, they only reported that 11 "Shaheds" were shot down over the region during the night.
