Due to the significant advantage of Russian forces in numbers and weaponry, the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region has become critical. Russian troops have almost completely occupied the city of Kurakhove, leaving behind a devastated infrastructure. Military experts point to the urgent need to strengthen defensive positions in the Donbas.
Reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Kramarov confirmed the loss of Kurakhove during the "Morning.LIVE" broadcast. The officer emphasized that the issue lies in the lack of clearly defined defensive lines in the region.
"We have lost Kurakhove, that is a fact... When you have an enemy that significantly outnumbers you in personnel and weaponry, and when 500-kilogram bombs are falling overhead, it is very difficult to hold your position... The problem is that our command has not established the defensive lines in Donetsk," Kramarov stated.
Kramarov noted that Ukraine had held important strategic positions in Donetsk for 10 years. However, the question now arises: where exactly should that defensive line be, where our compact forces can effectively resist the overwhelming enemy?
"Where is that defensive line for us in the Donetsk region, to which we can retreat with our compact forces, certainly smaller than the enemy, and where we can once again defend ourselves for a long time? This question is more for the command than for the guys who are directly on the front line," he emphasized.
Russian forces have been attempting to capture the city of Kurakhove for several weeks. Recently, Russian propaganda announced the complete occupation of the settlement. According to the spokesperson of the Operational-Strategic Grouping of Troops "Khortytsia," Viktor Trehubov, the situation in the city is extremely complex, and a significant part of its infrastructure is destroyed.
The monitoring project DeepState also confirms that Russian occupation forces nearly completely control Kurakhove. The city has become a location for the deployment and concentration of enemy personnel for further actions.
