The emergency power outages implemented during the air raid alerts have been canceled. From now on, in the regions of Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv, and in Kyiv, stabilization power outages will be in effect. The temporary increase in restrictions is due to damage to transmission lines caused by shelling. This was reported by Ukrenergo on November 21.
Energy workers are working to eliminate the consequences to restore the damaged equipment as quickly as possible. Consumers are urged to use electricity sparingly, especially when power returns according to the schedule.
"The emergency outages implemented during the air raid alert have been canceled. From now on, on November 21, in the regions of Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv, and in Kyiv, the consumption limitation measures will be as follows: 08:00 – 19:00 – two shifts of outages, 19:00 – 22:00 – one shift of outages," - stated Ukrenergo.
As a result of enemy shelling, one of the two power lines supplying the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP has been disconnected. Currently, the plant is connected to the Ukrainian energy system by only one transmission line. If the last line is disconnected, there will be another complete blackout at the Zaporizhzhia station. This is a severe violation of safe operating conditions and poses a risk of an emergency situation.
“For the second time this week, there is a real threat of blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to Russian shelling. On November 21, a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors will take place in Vienna, and we insist on the urgent and full implementation of the resolution to return the occupied station under Ukraine's control. Only this can guarantee the safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP,” - noted Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
Energy workers will begin restoring full power supply to the station as soon as the security situation allows.
