In Kyiv region, a power bank exploded in a school locker room during classes. At 12:18 on January 6, emergency services received a report of a fire at "School-Lyceum No. 16" in the city of Biała Cerkiew, reported the main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv region.
The operational dispatch service of the Biała Cerkiew district received the call at 12:18. Reports indicated smoke in the school on Zelenaya Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the sports hall locker room. They managed to extinguish the fire within half an hour — the blaze was eliminated by 12:50.
The State Emergency Service notes that specialists are determining the cause of the fire, which preliminarily occurred due to the explosion of a power bank.
There is no information about injuries or fatalities. After the fire, school staff evacuated nine students.
Twenty-four firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire, utilizing five units of equipment.
Recall that on January 3, the regional department of the State Emergency Service in the Odessa region reported that windows and doors were blown out in an apartment in Odessa due to a power bank explosion. The battery exploded in the bathroom, and the blast wave shattered the front door and a window in the room and on the balcony.
On January 2, rescuers reported that a washing machine exploded in a high-rise building in Odessa. As a result, a partition wall collapsed, damaging the walls in two adjacent apartments. A child was hospitalized with an arm injury.
