In Hungary, a kindergarten with 12 spots was built for €1.8 million, prompting Brussels to launch an investigation.

Following a request from an independent member of the Hungarian Parliament, the European Anti-Fraud Office has initiated an investigation into alleged violations concerning the construction of a kindergarten in the village of Kazár.
В Венгрии за 1,8 млн евро возведен детский сад на 12 мест, что привлекло внимание Брюсселя и инициировало расследование.

The European Anti-Fraud Office has launched an investigation into possible violations related to the construction of a kindergarten in Hungary, which cost approximately 1.8 million euros.

It has been revealed that the kindergarten is designed for only 12 children.

The facility began operations in September, and according to some estimates, this means that about 150,000 euros from EU funds is allocated per child, which exceeds the price of a large family home in the village where the kindergarten opened.

Independent Hungarian parliament member Ákos Hadházy believes that part of the EU funds was embezzled.

"It's clear that this is theft. If we look at who else submitted bids, we can easily find a connection between the construction company and other participants in the tender. Of course, this was not a genuine public procurement but a manipulated procurement," Hadházy stated.

Last week, the employees of the European Anti-Fraud Office began their investigation.

Meanwhile, the Hungarian police have initiated a separate investigation following reports that a friend of the local administration head allegedly received over one million euros for creating fish breeding ponds but failed to account for the work done and the funds spent.

We managed to contact the village head, Akos Geche, by phone, but he declined to comment on camera, stating that he does not trust the media.

He confirmed that an investigation into possible price inflation has already started and that he will make a statement only after its completion.
