The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Ukraine will lose the war if the USA reduces its aid. However, the head of state is confident that Ukrainians will continue to fight. The Ukrainian leader added that it would be very dangerous if Ukraine starts to lose unity.
Zelensky made this statement in an interview with Fox News, which was dedicated to the 1000 days of the great war. According to him, the amount of weaponry produced by Ukraine is insufficient for the fight.
"If the USA cuts back, I think we will lose. Of course, we will still remain and fight. We have production, but it is not enough to prevail. And I believe it is insufficient for survival. If such a choice is made by the USA, then we will decide what to do," Zelensky said.
He believes that if Russian President Vladimir Putin truly wants to end the war, he can do so. However, according to Zelensky, more depends on the USA because they are stronger.
"I am confident that today it depends a lot on Putin. He can do it. He may want to end this war. But it depends much more on the United States of America. Putin is weaker than the USA. President Sasha has the power, authority, and weapons, and he can lower the price of energy resources. By the way, I heard a signal in the media from President Trump that he is considering lowering energy prices, on oil, and that needs to be done," Volodymyr Zelensky stated.
The Ukrainian leader also responded to the question of whether he hopes that elected President Donald Trump can influence Putin to end the war. Zelensky says that Trump is much stronger than Putin.
"It won't be easy, but I think he can. Because he is much stronger than Putin. He is stronger. The United States is stronger. The economy is stronger. The USA has very significant influence," Zelensky said.
The administration of current US President Joe Biden previously announced that it decided to accelerate the transfer of the remaining allocated security aid to Ukraine. This concerns 6 billion dollars that will be directed towards the purchase of weapons. This is due to the fact that after Donald Trump's inauguration, he might block arms supplies.
Previously, Trump and vice-presidential candidate JD Vance criticized the Biden administration for spending billions on military assistance to Ukraine, while all of Europe combined could only match the amount provided by Washington. Meanwhile, European leaders stated that they need to invest more in their own defense.
Recently, it was announced in the USA that America is ready to provide another package of military aid to Ukraine. This will include air defense systems and armored vehicles to provide protection to Ukrainians. A complete list of weaponry will be announced in the coming days.
