The Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched an offensive in the Kursk region, confirmed Yermak.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an offensive in the Suzhy district of Russia's Kursk region on January 5 as reported. Ukrainian troops are advancing towards Velikoye Soldatskoye, a direction previously considered challenging for an attack by the Russians. It is known that the Ukrainian army is utilizing a significant amount of equipment for the assault. Powerful explosions are heard, and electronic warfare systems have neutralized Russian drones.

According to a statement made by former advisor to the governor of Kursk region, Roman Alyokhin, Ukrainian fighters employed a powerful electronic warfare tool. This has effectively incapacitated the ability of Russian drones to attack.

"Judging by the situation in the Suzhy area, the enemy's offensive, which we spoke about earlier, has begun. It started from Suzhy towards Velikoye Soldatskoye, although we considered this direction to be the most difficult for the enemy. In the offensive, the enemy is using mine-clearing trawls, tanks, and other armored vehicles. The area of attack is heavily covered by electronic warfare, rendering many drones ineffective," Alyokhin stated.

According to Alyokhin, the attack may only be part of a larger operation with possible advances in other directions.

Local sources confirm increased activity in the Suzhy area. Eyewitnesses report sounds of heavy machinery and explosions, indicating ongoing combat operations.

Interestingly, the Russian Ministry of Defense has not commented on the situation yet. Meanwhile, Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak confirmed the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region, adding that the Russians will get what they deserve.

The Situation in Kursk

On the afternoon of January 2, Russian media began to extensively report on a significant strike in the Kursk region of Russia. The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the concentration of occupiers from the 810th Separate Marine Brigade for the second time. This time, the strike occurred in the village of Ivanivske, located in the Rylsk district. Preliminary reports indicate considerable losses for the enemy.

On December 25, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the city of Lgov in the Kursk region of Russia. A command post of the 810th Marine Brigade of the Russian army was hit. In Russia, there are reports of local residents killed and injured, as well as destruction caused by the blast wave.
