The message from the military commissariat appeared on the institution's Facebook page around 5 PM on January 14. The note highlights that the social media reports about the theft of a "large sum of money" from the premises of the territorial center are completely false. The authors of such messages added a fake photograph taken at an unknown location, at an unknown time, and under unknown circumstances. Everything written about the theft is disinformation and manipulation, the note states.
"We officially declare that there is no confirmation of the mentioned information, and the publication itself is a complete lie," the Transcarpathian Military Commissariat stated in their address.
The military officials also noted that the mentioned falsehood is being spread on pages that have repeatedly generated "materials with elements of pro-Russian propaganda." Consequently, the Military Commissariat urged media representatives not to publish unverified information.
The photograph used by the territorial center to illustrate the message about the fabrications and Russian propaganda shows an unknown person jumping out of a window in some premises. The photo contains text claiming that 27,000 euros were allegedly stolen and that the police announced an "Intercept" plan. The original source of the image is not identifiable.
The TV channel "News. Live" has meanwhile contacted the State Bureau of Investigation regarding the incident at the Transcarpathian Military Commissariat, as noted in a report at 4:49 PM on their Telegram channel. Representatives of the agency, whose names were not disclosed, stated that they had heard nothing about the incident at the military commissariat. In particular, there were no statements or inquiries from law enforcement.
"It is currently unknown who is spreading this information online," journalists quoted the State Bureau of Investigation.
Notably, on the afternoon of January 14, People’s Deputy from "Servant of the People" Olya Vasylevska-Smahliuk reported on Telegram about an incident that presumably occurred at the Transcarpathian Military Commissariat. The politician wrote that the military officials allegedly detained a male recidivist on the street, brought him to the territorial center, and locked him in some room. The recidivist, unable to wait for his fate to be decided, reportedly picked the lock and escaped, taking 27,000 euros from a broken safe.
The money, as the deputy wrote, was kept in the safe of the military commissar. After that, the chief supposedly reported that this was money collected for drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At 5 PM on January 14, Vasylevska-Smahliuk's message was deleted.
Meanwhile, in November, other footage of an escape from the Military Commissariat in Mukachevo was shared on social media. The video shows a man actually climbing out of a second-floor window, managing to slip through the bars.
We remind you that on January 10, a scandal involving the Military Commissariat occurred in the Kyiv region, resulting in harm to a woman.
