"Measures will be taken": The rector of KNU responded to the professor's comments about "hungry Ukrainian women."

The rector of KNU, Vladimir Bugrov, condemns the remarks made by Professor Nikita Vasilenko regarding Ukrainian women having children with foreign peacekeepers, and vows that he will be held accountable for these statements under the law.
"Ректор КНУ прокомментировал высказывания профессора о 'голодных украинках', заявив, что будут предприняты необходимые меры."

Regarding Professor Nikita Vasilenko from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, who spoke about "hungry Ukrainian women" who would give birth to children of foreign peacekeepers, the university administration will take "measures." This was stated by the rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Volodymyr Buhrov, in a comment to Hromadske.

"Measures will be taken. The situation is negative. I do not support Professor Vasilenko's statements and condemn them," — noted Volodymyr Buhrov.

According to journalists, when asked to clarify, the rector responded that the professor would be held accountable in accordance with the law.

"You studied law, right? There are relevant aspects in the labor code. Therefore, he will be held accountable according to current legislation, so that later [the decision] cannot be appealed in court," — said Volodymyr Buhrov.

The administration of Taras Shevchenko National University published an official statement on December 24 regarding Professor Nikita Vasilenko's remarks.

The statement indicated that the university "condemns any actions that may discredit the University, harm its reputation, or contradict the national interests of Ukraine."

The university administration noted that it had received official inquiries about the incident from the Student Parliament of the Journalism Institute and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. After reviewing and thoroughly examining the situation, "appropriate decisions will be made that comply with current legislation and the internal regulations of the University," the message stated.

Scandal with KNU Professor: Details

On December 23, Professor Nikita Vasilenko from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University stated that if foreign peacekeepers arrive in Ukraine, "hungry Ukrainian women," who have lost their husbands at the front, would give birth to children from them, leading to a demographic surge in the country. He also recalled World War II and compared peacekeepers to Nazis, claiming that, during the occupation, young women gave birth to hundreds of children from them.

The Student Parliament of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism at KNU announced a boycott of the institute's administration on the same day due to Vasilenko's statements and demanded the professor's dismissal. Students noted that such statements discredit the journalism profession and the national interests of the state.

Additionally, the words of the KNU professor regarding "hungry Ukrainian women" were responded to by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets. He reminded that this is the second time he is reacting to statements made by Nikolai Vasilenko. According to the ombudsman, he received a collective appeal from the student body a year ago, after which Vasilenko was held administratively accountable by the university administration and received a reprimand.
