In Lviv region, a regional council member flushed 1.2 million UAH down the toilet on Christmas Eve. Here's what happened.

In Lviv region, a regional council deputy, along with an accomplice, attempted to extort money from a local entrepreneur on Christmas Eve for "services" that were unnecessary. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.

It was noted that the council deputy and the deputy mayor of one of the territorial communities in the region tried to deceive a local private entrepreneur and fraudulently take 1 million 200 thousand hryvnias from him.

They promised to help him win a tender for construction work in the region, but he declined.

After the entrepreneur independently won the tender, the criminals pretended that they were the ones who assisted him and began aggressively demanding a portion of his profits.

The entrepreneur agreed to pay for their "services" and reported them to the police. The offenders were detained while receiving 25,000 US dollars and 190,000 hryvnias. They attempted to flush the bribe money down the toilet.

The deputy and his accomplice have been informed of the suspicion of large-scale fraud (part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanctions for this article provide for a penalty of up to 20 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

There is an ongoing decision regarding the selection of a preventive measure.

Recall that in Zhytomyr region, local hospital doctors demanded a bribe from a severely wounded soldier for disability confirmation. The doctors have been charged, but they have not been suspended from work.

On October 26, it was reported that in Lviv, the management of a medical institution was dismissed where a doctor accepted a bribe of 2 million hryvnias.
